I have the honour to refer to your secret

1-telegram No.65 dated the 6th of April, 1938, and to

forward herewith for your information copies of weekly

returns of war materials passing through this Colony

since the outbreak of hostilities between China and

Japan, and also a return of such war materials as are

presumed to be of German origin, covering the period

the 26th of December, 1937, to the 20th of March, 1938.

2. It is regretted that duplicates of returns

prior to the 13th of March, 1938, are not available.

3. I propose to instruct the Colonial Secretary

to transmit a copy of similar returns weekly by air mail

in future under cover of a note to the Under-Secretary of

State for the Colonies.
